[Discharge Precautions] Korea Face Contouring Surgery

But she won't get it right if she hasn't followed discharge precautions after having Korea face contouring surgery!


FACIAL SWELLING (degree of swelling can vary by individual)
  • Ice pack massage should be done continuously for 2~3 days after discharge
  • Never blow your nose for about 3 weeks after discharge
  • You will wear white bandage for 24 hours, the 1st day after surgery but you can wear it only at night for the next 2~3 days
  • Big swollen areas usually begin to subside after 1~2 weeks. Over 1 month period, swelling will move through the chin to the bottom of the neck
  • You might find blood from your nasal cavity when you lower your head for 7~10 days after surgery, This is normal. No need to worry. 
  • Please remember that careless and excessive use of the compression bandage can cause scalp damage and hair loss 

SLEEPING
  • When breathing becomes comfortable, sleeping normally is possible
  • Always be careful not to compress your face on a pillow while sleeping. it is better to use neck pillow
  • It is recommended to use 2~3 cushions, pillows, blankets placed on the back while sleeping
  • If you still have swelling, you'd better raise your body 15 degree while sleeping

TOOTH BRUSHING AND MOUTHWASH (Hexidine mouthwash should be mixed with water in a 1:1 ratio)
  • Start use mouthwash after discharge until 2nd postoperative visit (before stitch removal)
  • Rinse your mouth with water 7 times, hexidine 3 times. Mouth should be filled with mouthwash and head should be tilted to the left and right
  • Stitches in the mouth can rupture, never make chewing motions while rinsing
  • Hexidine mouthwash should be used for 1 week after discharge. You can use regular mouthwash starting from the 2nd week. 
  • Tooth brushing is possible 1 week after discharge. You should use kid toothbrush (with short and soft bristles), avoid gums and only softly brushing the teeth

FACE WASHING AND SHOWER
  • You are allowed to wash your hair and do light shower after discharge
  • But for cheekbone reduction patients can only wash their hair after the 1st postoperative visit and stitch removal
  • Tape under the chin can be removed 2 days after discharge while washing your face
  • No sauna and bath houses for 1 month
  • You can wash your face gently. Make sure not to apply pressure to swollen areas (no facial massages)
  • Washing hair should be done gently while standing up while keeping the head up under supervised care

DIET
  • Crunchy/ hard foods should be avoided
  • No carbonated drinks and coffee are allowed for 1 month after surgery
  • No alcohol and smoking for 1 month after surgery
  • Avoid inflammatory foods such as spicy, salty, greasy, and food with chunks
  • Fruits with the seeds removed can be blended for easier intake. Banana and milk blended together is highly recommended
  • You can begin your diet with clear liquid diet like honey water, juice, milk, yogurt, rice gruel for 1~2 days. Change into full liquid diet (porridge and similar foods) at the 3rd~4th days and you can begin normal diet (soft foods) at 5th~6th days after surgery

PRESCRIPTION MEDICATION
  • Medication should be taken 3 times a day, 30 minutes after meals
  • Prescription medication is only prescribed in 10 days dosage. No further prescription will be given 
  • Please be informed that excessive dairy intake can lead to diarrhea
  • Painkillers will be prescribed only when pain is present and should be taken in 8~10 hours intervals
